I really like this tool.
Animoto web site
It quickly and easily creates a fun, stylish video from your images and text (or video clips). With the free account, you or your students can create 30 second videos, and they provide all the bells and whistles. You just click.
There is a paid option which will allow you to make longer videos, but frankly, I kind of like limiting the kids to 30 seconds. They have to be really concise if they want to get their point across in 30 seconds, and that's a good skill.
Here's a link to an Animoto I made for Meet the Teacher night. It's mostly photos of my kiddos, because of course that's what parents would most like to look at. :-)
